Ten Things You Can Start Today to Reverse-Age & Heal Your BodyÂ
1. Avoid 100% of industrialized/processed food and start eating whole foods.
2. Stop eating the top inflammatory foods: grains, beans, dairy, sugar, and seed oils (like canola, soybean, rice bran, and sunflower.)
3. Consume DHA & liver. Eat 1-2oz. grass-fed/finished liver 1-3x/week, and wild-caught seafood (fish, roe, bivalves, etc.) 2-4x/week.
4. Balance your blood sugar. If you have or suspect diabetes, seek medical care from a qualified professional. If you don’t have diabetes, but you experience:
- lightheadedness, weakness, unsustained energy, being hangry, and feeling like you must eat between meals
- carb cravings or food coma after you eat
- inability to skip meals
then start tracking your macros with an app like CarbManager and reduce carbs until you have sustained energy and peace in your body between meals, and eating never feels like an emergency.
5. Sync your body to the sun cycle. Get outside within an hour of sunrise for morning sunlight (even just for 5-10 min) and avoid indoor lighting and led screens after sunset. Open your windows, ditch sunglasses (except when driving,) and get out into nature.
6. Get to sleep before 10pm. Prioritize a dark and comfortable sleep environment.
7. Get regular movement in a way that feels rewarding and doable.
8. Avoid or reduce addictive substances including alcohol, caffeine, & chocolate.
9. Start a meditation practice to manage stress. Learn to meditate with an app like Headspace, or try this Classic Breathing Meditation:
- Get comfortable and close your eyes.
- Relax your breathing and focus on your breath moving in and out of your body.
- If a thought or other distraction comes up - no big deal - simply release it. Imagine your thoughts as cars driving past you in the opposite direction. If they come, that’s OK - just let them go, and return your focus to your breath.
- Continue as desired. Set a timer to practice for a certain amount of time. Start with 1-2 minutes and work your way up to 5-10 minutes.
10. Start doing regular appreciation check-ins. Focus your attention onto things that you truly enjoy about your day, your life, and the people you love.
- Ask yourself, “what’s good?” Take a few minutes to journal about it.
- Go for an appreciation walk where you only think about things you like.
- Take a few minutes before you go to sleep to think of 3 small things you genuinely loved about your day.
